In joining the Board of Opportunity Child, I’m looking forward to support the driving of community led initiatives that provides the strongest possible foundations for young people and their families to not only survive, but thrive.
Those that attended ChangeFest last month were part of the presentation of the ChangeFest Statement. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of applying a cultural lens across everything we do at Opportunity Child.
A key player in those conversations was Louisa Whettam, who spoke powerfully for indigenous community culture and interests. She worked closely with our CEO Dianne throughout the ChangeFest statement development process and now brings her rich cultural understanding and life experience to Opportunity Child two days a week as Cultural Practice Advisor.
Wendy Mason will be joining Opportunity Child as our new Director of Strategy and Operations on 10th December 2018.
Wendy has held significant roles as the Head of the Commonwealth Bank Foundation, General Manager of the Western Research Institute and most recently with the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation. Her extensive management and business development experience, excellent networks and track record in stakeholder relations across the government, financial and not-for-profit sectors will be a valuable addition to our team.
We are excited to announce that Opportunity Child has officially become a separate entity after successful incubation by ten20 Foundation.
Our inaugural board meeting on 24th October saw Ivan Power from Macquarie Group welcomed as Incoming Chair. Ivan brings a passion for working with communities to improve the lives of their children and is joined by NSW’s former and inaugural Children’s Commissioner, Gillian Calvert as Deputy Chair.

Opportunity Child has announced four significant appointments to drive its Collective Impact agenda in early childhood development.
Tara Kleine – Director, Capability and Development (starts 3rd September). Tara was previously Principal Advisor for Leadership and Organisational Capability at Rio Tinto. She brings executive-level experience across corporate, government, community and NFP and is skilled in leading large networks and influencing for strategic and programmatic benefit. A major focus of her role will be designing and implementing a structured peer support network for communities focused on place-based work in Australia.

Opportunity Child partners and the ten20 Board are pleased to announce that Dr Dianne Jackson has been appointed to the new role of Chief Executive Officer for Opportunity Child ‑ Australia’s only national intermediary in the early childhood development space using a collective impact approach.
Dr Jackson’s starting date is Monday 29 January 2018.
